Trailer Hitch and Wiring Fitment for a 2023 Ford Explorer
Question:
I have a 2023 explore XLT Looking for a hitch and harness. It looks like this fits. CURT Class 3 Trailer Hitch - 2023 Ford Explorer. How long does it take to install. What wiring harness do I use. I will be pulling a small camper. So I will be needing a wire to charge battery. Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU78FR does fit your 2023 Ford Explorer XLT, yes.
For trailer wiring I recommend picking up the Tekonsha T-One # 118599 and using the Mounting Brackets # C42CR and # C57202 to secure the 4-Way wiring next to your hitch receiver for easy access.
The trailer hitch will take about an hour and ten minutes to install for the average DIYer and the 4-Way wiring will be about the same. You can count on less time if you've done these types of installs before, or a little more time if you're new to this.
To add a charge wire to your setup you can either use the Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L for a trickle charge, or one of the following Redarc BCDC chargers if you're needing the battery charge to increase while towing:
- Up to 75 amp hour battery bank # RED96FR
- For 75 amp - 200 amp hour battery bank # 331-BCDC1225D
I've attached some installation instructions and videos for you to check out as well!
