Troubleshooting A Phoenix A-Frame Trailer Jack That Does Not Operate Anymore

Question:

Hi, I have a Phoenix 5500 Electric Tongue Jack that stopped working over the weekend. The green LED does not light up anymore and the extend and retract buttons on the touchpad do not respond anymore. The two memory button works, and I am able to retract and extend manually. The light button does not work anymore either. On the other hand, I am able to extend and retract using the remote switch. Can it be a PCB problem? If so is it possible to buy just the PCB?

There is still some troubleshooting you can do, however if the troubleshooting does not solve the issue you're going to either have to reach out to Phoenix for a replacement jack or pick out your own.

With that being said, the first thing you can check is your ground connection. Often times this is over looked because it feels too simple to check or people just forget but you'd be surprised how often a bad ground ends up being the culprit.

If your ground looks good, then I'd move onto the battery that's powering the jack and make sure it's got enough power to operate the jack. You're going to need a full 12 volts for your Phoenix Electric Trailer Jack with Remote - A-Frame # UF38-944055 to work properly.

If the battery is not pumping out enough power, I'd recommend charging your battery for a day and check again to see if that was the issue.

If that still does not work, then you'll want to reach out to Phoenix and see if the jack can be replaced.
