Will Adapting From 50 Amp To 30 Amp Service Leave Enough Power To Charge The Trailer Battery
Question:
Im purchasing an RV that is 50 amp twist lock plug set up. If I adapt to a 30 amp which is only 120 volt. and the trailer is 240 volt will my trailer converter still run the lights and maintain my batteries before I head out on my trip?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Stepping down from 50 amp to 30 amp should leave your more than enough to run the lights in your trailer and the converter to keep the battery charged. You just wouldn't be able to run both AC units at the same time since they have a very high draw. You can use the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter - 50 Amp Female to 30 Amp Male - 25' # A10-3050EDBK to transition over or could use a smaller adapter like part # A10-3050FHVP if you want to still use your current power cord and just make the change right at the power pedestal.
