What Is the Internal Clearance of the 30A SurgeMinder Surge Protector?

Question:

Ive been looking for a 30 amp surge protector for my RV that has at least 2.8inch of space from the receptacle to the inside of the hinged rain cover so that it can close properly. My 30 amp cables handle extends 2.75inch 2 3/4 outward when it is plugged in. Ive only found 50 amp surge protecters with rain covers that go out 2.8. I think I have looked at every brand of surge protectors offered on Amazon. It looks like in your video that there is close to 3inch of outward space from the receptacle to the hinged rain cover on your 30 amp surge protector. Is there?

Expert Reply:

I spoke with Valterra and they don't have that exact measurement, but they did tell me that the SurgeMinder Surge Protector and Circuit Tester # SU39SR has an internal clearance of 3.2", so that rain cover has to be at least 3" long.
