Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for a Travel Trailer

Question:

Thinking about buying two ebikes that weigh 60 pounds each what would be the best hitch to haul them with on the back of my travel trailer. Can you give me some options?

To transport E-Bikes on the back of a travel trailer you're going to need a hitch and bike rack that is rated for both. To add a hitch to the back of your travel trailer, I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs item # 13703. It works with frames from 22" wide to 72" wide and comes with hardware. This hitch can be bolted to the frame or welded.

The simple bolt on to the bumper hitches won't be compatible with any bike rack which is why I recommended the Curt item # 13703. It has a 350 lbs tongue weight so plenty of capacity for a couple of e-bikes. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this hitch set up.

There aren't many bike racks rated to be used behind a travel trailer but the best one is going to be the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack item # S94FR. This bike rack is built to withstand the turbulence, bouncing, and all around extra stress of being used behind a trailer. It has a 70 lbs per bike capacity and fits tires up to 3" wide.

The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack item # S94FR is a frame mounted style rack. It attaches to your bike's frame and completely avoids any fenders your bikes may have.

I have linked a review video below that will show you the functions of this bike rack.

If your bikes have fat tires you will need one of the Fat Tire Adapter Kit item # S64679 for each bike, which will work with tires up to 5" wide.
