Installation of the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear # UF17-943010

Question:

I have a 2008 Sunnybrook Bristol Bay. I bought your UF17-943010 to replace my failing Atwood single motor system. While looking at the Atwood system, I noticed that the existing landing gear is mounted to the inside of the trailer frame and not the front as you recommend. I have a few questions in regard to the installation. 1 I Had planned on moving the UF stop plates to the same location as the existing Atwood location. It would be easier foe me to take the legs to a welder than take the RV to a welder. 2 Is it a problem if they are installed to the inside of the frame instead of the front as recommended? 3 The Atwood system has the stop plates on the bottom of the top bracket and the top of the bottom bracket. Why is this different from yours that has both brackets above the stop plates? I would appreciate any help and clarification on these concerns as I am looking forward to improving the use of the landing gear on my RV. I can take pictures if you need any clarification to my questions. Thank you for your time.

The Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Trailer Jack # UF17-943010 can be installed inside the front cargo area of your trailer. Just make sure that these jacks are mounted to the steel frame of the trailer that is rated for supporting the weight of the trailer.

As specified on page 2 of the Ultra-Fab Instructions for this landing gear, the stop plates of the jacks must be positioned under the clamping hangers of the jack. This is intended to distribute the weight of the trailer across both of the stop hangers.

Since it sounds like your Atwood hangers are in a different position, and Ultra-Fab specifies a different mounting configuration, then your best solution is to take the entire trailer to the welder. Then the Ultra-Fab landing gear will be installed on your trailer with the correct positioning of the stop hangers.

I have included a diagram showing the Ultra-Fab Required stop plate installation locations for your reference.
