Do Pin Boxes Sit Above The Bedrails Or Maneuver Inside Of The Bed
Question:
is the pin box assembly supposed to be higher than the bed rails? Or does the pin box swivel entire inside the truck bed area?

Pin boxes will typically have a portion that sits below the top of the bedrails, but is angle up towards the trailer to avoid hitting the bedrails when making tight turns. It's important to maintain at least 6" of clearance between the bedrails and the nose of the trailer so you may need to adjust the hitch head height or suspension to get the trailer to the right height for enough clearance and to ride level.
Pin boxes all have specific bolt patterns to attach to the trailer so if you're looking at replacing yours you'll first need to determine the bolt pattern. Typically there's a sticker somewhere on the pin box with a serial and RPO number that we can use to determine the pattern. If not then you can use the attached guide below to measure for your bolt pattern.
MORryde pin boxes like the # MR97VR you were looking at also have a shear spring capacity that you'll want to match to GVWR of your trailer. The # MR97VR has an overall capacity of 18,000lbs but a shear spring capacity of 14k - 18K. Going outside of the shear spring capacity will affect the ride quality in a negative way so you'll want to choose the correct weight class.
