Hi, Could I also use a Takonsha P2 or P3? Instead of the Redarc liberty?

So long as you have the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7 installed in your 2022 Subaru Outback then yes you can use the Tekonsha P2 item # 90885, P3 item # 90195, or the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR. All three of these brake controllers rely on the blue wire that is ran from the 7-way connector to the cab to function.

Out of those three controllers, I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR. It is comparable in price and its unique installation method and ease of use is far superior to Tekonsha's products. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this brake controller set up in your Subaru.

To complete the installation of the Tow-Pro Liberty you will also need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR. Your car doesn't have a brake controller port and Redarc doesn't include the universal harness because if you do have the port you waste money on a harness you'll never use.
