The exact axle spacing will depend on the hanger kit and leaf springs you are using. For example, for a trailer with two 5,000 lb axles, we recommend using hanger kit, # APT6SE, and 4-Leaf Slipper Springs for 5,000 lb Axles, # SP-231275. The spring length and equalizer length will play a big role in determining axle spacing.

The hanger kit comes with a 12 inch long equalizer and the 5,000 lb slipper springs are 24-5/8 inches long. For this combination, the distance between the front hanger and the center hanger should be 28-1/2 inches on center. The distance between the center hanger and the rear hanger will be 29-1/2 inches on center. This will put the axles 33 inches apart on center and the center of the axle will be 4-1/2 inches below the trailer frame.
