Can A Window AC Unit Be Powered In A 50 Amp Service Trailer Connected To 30 Amp Service

Question:

have a 50 amp 5th wheel and the pedestal at the park I want to live in is only 30 amp. Im looking at the adaptor CAM55185. What I want to know is if I can run a conventional window air conditioning unit at this power? My rig has two a/c units but neither work very well, which is why I need a residential window model and would run only this. My a/c unit is 115v 6000 BTU. All suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated! Thank you,

If you're only getting 30 amp service then you're just going to to have to figure out how many amps the window unit draws to determine if you can run it along with other items in your trailer. Typical RV rooftop AC units pull quite a bit so you can't run two off of 30 amp service. You could possibly run one and the window unit, but again it really depends on how many amps the window unit pulls so you'll have to refer back to your owner's manual or the manufacturer to determine if this will work.

The Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter w/ Handles # CAM55185 you referenced will allow you to plug into 30 amp service, but you're limited to just 30 amps so your trailer won't be able to power everything.
