Tandem Landing Gear Recommendations For Thor Vortex Toy Hauler RV
Question:
Does Reese make a single motor unit similar to the Stromberg Carlson LG1 unit? My RV is a Thor Vortex Toybox and has very limited space in which to work with due to the Propane storage and Generator position in the front of the rig. I dont believe that I have enough space to put the 8K unit with single motors in the space I have. The other question that I have about the 8K unit is, can it be operated manually?

When the 8000 lb Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear, part # RP500708 is installed, the motors are mounted on top of the legs. This means less space is needed when installing these landing gears.
Should you lose power, there is a manual adjustment on these landing gears. I have attached a photo that shows where the included tool is inserted. As the photo shows, a ratchet is then attached to the tool and allows you to adjust the landing gear manually.
Another option would be the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear , part # LG-1. This is a weld-on application with 6000 lbs lift capacity and has a 21 inch lift. A manual hand crank is included which can be used if you have a loss of power. All of the hardware including the cross shaft, footplates, switch, motor, gearbox, are included with these jacks.
