Can You Carry a Dirt Bike with Stealth Hitch on 2018/2019 VW Golf R
Question:
Im wondering if this hitch is beefy enough to carry a dirt bike. The bike weighs 240lbs with gas, oil, coolant etc. and the carrier itself that the bike sits on weighs 40-50lbs... So in theory 300lbs tongue weight. Does this seem like a reasonable thing to do? Or is that too much weight? Thanks,

The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver part # SH89ZR which is a fit for a 2018 - 2019 Volkswagen Golf R has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity. Therefore, the contents of the items loaded onto the hitch cannot exceed this. That said, this is the rating for the hitch only which is tested separately of the vehicle so you'll need to refer to your owner's manual for the true vehicle rating and abide by the lower of the two figures. In all reality and to speak blatantly, it's not really feasible for anything less than a half ton pickup or large SUV to transport a dirt bike on a carrier. That's just simply too much weight for a cantilevered load, especially on a small hatchback.
If you need to transport a dirt bike there is really only one way and that's a trailer. In that case you'd also need the Towing Kit w/ Ball Mount and Trailer Wiring for Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver part # SH34ZR.
