Will The 4-Pole Connector On A Towed Vehicle Have Power Running To It

Question:

I tow a 2019 ford ranger behind class a motor home. The ranger has a Curt custom wire harness to operate tail lights from the RV plug. I want to use a bike rack on back of the ranger. My question is will this 53202 light kit operate from the ranger 4way trailer plug when being towed behind the RV? Thanks.

No, while towing your Ranger the 4-pole on it will have no power running to it to activate the Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201. The only way to make it work would be to connect to the motorhome since that's where the traffic signal would be coming from. This is the same concept as magnetic lights like part # TL21RK. The problem is that your 4-pole or 7-way is already in use from the wire harness you're using to activate the lights on the Ranger with the motorhome.

The only option would be to run this wiring up to the motorhome and splice it in before the 7-way using bullet connectors so that you could remove the wiring when not in use. It's not going to be pretty but would be the only way to get those signals.
