Recommended Roof Rack for a Hullavator on a 2014 Ford Expedition w/ Raised Side Rails
Question:
What kind cross bar and towers do I need to adapt a hullavator kayak rack to my 2014 ford expedition with factory raised side rails?

To use the Thule Hullavator item # TH898 on your 2014 Ford Expedition you're going to need to install a set of crossbars that extend 4" - 8" past the roof racks legs. This allows the lift assist function of the Hullavator to work. Since your Expedition has the raised side rails, I recommend the Roof Rack by Yakima and it includes the following parts:
Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2 item # Y00426
TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Qty 4 item # Y33TR
I also recommend adding the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 4) item # Y07204 to your set up to help secure your roof rack from theft.
The regular crossbars for a 2014 Expedition are the Yakima JetStream Crossbars 50" Long item # Y00425. These crossbars won't allow the lift assist function to work.
