What To Do If Your Entry Door Open Angle Doesn't Match Up Well To The Wall For A Door Holder
Question:
I purchased the following: T-Style Hook and Keeper Door Holder for RV or Enclosed Trailer - 6inch Hook - Stainless Steel Item # 37210525 Due to the open-door angle, the hook will not fit into the T bracket mounted on the door. Do you believe a 4inch Hook will solve this problem or should I look toward an L shaped hook?

Helpful Expert Reply:
A shorter hook would help with the angle of the door to help get the hook into the holder for your trailer's door. An option with a 45 degree bend in it, like the part # 37211765, would give you a better option to work with the angle of the door, but you might have to change the placement of the holder to properly fit with the door.
I recommend installing the hook on the door first and then holding the door up to the wall of the trailer to find the correct spot for the holder. This would obviously leave you with some holes if you end up having to move it so you'll want some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 to fill in the old holes. You'll also want to use some butyl tape # AL28FJ on the back of the brackets to seal up the mounting screws and prevent any water from leaking in through them.
