Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Install Kit for a 2017 Ram 2500 W/ A Regular Bed
Question:
I have a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 6.7L turbo. A 64 bed. I currently have a travel trailer, but would like to purchase a 5th wheel. I think I need to get the Dodge puck kit installed in the bed. Then I can use the BandW Companion 20K hitch with the Reese Sidewinder king pin. And I will need to pay attention the 5th wheel nose shape. Does this sound correct?

If you're planning on using the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W then you're going to need the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1384-5W to be able to install this hitch in your 2017 Ram 2500, no pucks needed.
However the only real drawback with using this hitch is that if you want4ed to use a different hitch in the future you couldn't due to the way this hitch mounts.
You could still use the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 with the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2602 which still offers a sensational capacity (18K), uses standard ISR (industry standard rails) rails so you could use a different hitch in the future if need be, and is also made by B&W so you're guaranteed to get the same high-quality product as # BWRVK3400-5W.
Also, whether you choose to use the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W or the Patriot # BWRVK3270 you won't have to use Sidewinder pin box because both of these hitches slide toward to the tailgate to give you more clearance between the camper and cab of your truck when making turns, which is what the Sidewinder essentially does.
