Is Lifting the Rear of 2017 Toyota Prius To Install The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Required?
Question:
Hi. Is it possible to install this hitch on a 2017 Prius without raising the car? Im trying to figure out if I need to buy jack stands. Thank you!

Raising your 2017 Toyota Prius off the ground is not going to be necessary to install the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24966. I have linked a video below which does show the installation process and you can see how difficult some of the fasteners are to reach so it will make it easier to access if you are able to raise the rear of your car. Rather than using jack stands you can use Ramps # FT11909MI as then you will only need to back your car onto the ramps rather than dealing with jacks and jack stands.
I recommend installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56353 when you install the receiver. Since you will have a portion of the rear fascia off it will help you find a good way to run the 4-way connector out to the receiver so you will not have to run it through the rear trunk hatch when needed. The 4-way will allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack that may interfere with the visibility of your tail lights to other drivers.
