Parts Needed To Use 24" - 36" Long Hitch Extender On 2001 Ford F-250

Question:

Hey I am shopping for 2” hitch extenders 24”-36” but I can only find 2 1/2”. Is there a reason why you only sell 2” extenders 18” and below?

Yes, there is a reason a 2" hitch extender is not available in a 24" - 36" length.

The reason is that length with that small of a receiver puts way to much leverage on the hitch and would lower your hitch capacity so low it really wouldn't be usable for much.

The only way to safely get an extender that long is replacing your 2" hitch to a 2-1/2" with the Curt # C15810 which is a confirmed fit for your 2001 Ford F-250.

You can then use the Curt Hitch extender # C45048 which can be either 24" long which would give you a 600lb tongue weight and 6,000lb towing capacity, or can be 34" and would give you a 450lb tongue weight and 4,500lb towing capacity.

While I'm sure you weren't hoping to hear you'll need to swap your hitch, it's the only way to safely use an extender in the length range you're needing.

I included a video of the hitch above being installed for you to check out.
