There are a few reasons why a mobile device can't find the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller part # C51180. The first reason would be that the brake controller is not receiving power from the vehicle, there should be a flashing blue light on the controller. If there's not, check the battery charge line fuse on the vehicle. If the controller has power, make sure your device is within range. Finally, you may need to upgrade your device to the latest firmware.
If you still continue to have issues, you may need to consider reaching out to the manufacturer for a warranty replacement. I have also attached for you below the troubleshooting section from the owner's manual.
