Difference Between E-Coat and Dacromet on Trailer Brake Kit
Question:
Im looking at the Uni-Servo Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit Item # AKFBBRK-35 and Item # AKFBBRK-35-D What is the difference between E-Coating and Dacromet?
asked by: Jarrod
Expert Reply:
The e-coat on the # AKFBBRK-35 is basically a paint that uses an electrical current to apply it to the surface. The Dacromet coating on the # AKFBBRK-35-D is a water-based adhesive coating made of zinc and aluminum flakes. The part is dipped in the coating and then heated for a uniform application on the surface. The Dacromet is a much better choice for applications where corrosion resistance is important. That is why we list it as ideal for boat and snowmobile trailers.
