Recommended Under Bed 5th Wheel Hitch System for a 2013 Ford F-250 Short Bed

Question:

Hi, my trucks a 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4 Crew Cab short bed 6.75ft 6.7 powerstroke with standard trailer tow pkg, but w/o 5th wheel under-bed pkg. Im getting a new 5th wheel toy hauler and searching for a Ford OEM 5th wheel/gooseneck hitch prep pkg or equivalent. Ford # BC3Z-5F057-A is the only thing I can find online, but one listing said didnt fit the FX4. Id like to get a puck system sliding hitch and dont want the above-bed mounting rails that require drilling out the truck frame. If I cant find OEM Ford is there an aftermarket option? Really want that BandW Companion hitch haha! Thanks

I have a great option that will allow you to use a B&W Companion Hitch but there is no way to add an OEM puck system to your 2013 Ford F-250 FX4. Instead you will want the B&W Custom Underbed Installation Kit item # BWGNRK1111-5W. This is a comparable below bed system that allows you to have a clear bed when you are not towing. It provides a square gooseneck receiver that allows you to mount the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3400-5W.

These two systems combined will give you a 20,000 lbs capacity. The Companions slider will provide you with 12" of travel for backing and making turns.

I have linked a couple of installation videos below so you can see the process and also how these two parts function.

To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and is an identical set up to what comes with the OEM prep packages.
