Recommended 7-Way Trailer Connector to 4-Way Vehicle Connector Adapter
Question:
Can I use this item to connect a 7 pin RV trailer to my 4 pin factory tow kit on my 2016 Escape?

Yes, you can use the Wesbar Adapter item # 707250 to connect a 7-Way trailer connector to your Escapes 4-way connector. However, you won't be able to control the brakes or have an accessory line that keeps your battery charged.
If you are concerned about these functions you will want to add the Universal Installation Kit item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Escape with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it. You will then need to run a power line to your battery, a ground, and a brake controller wire.
I have linked an installation video below.
If you end up adding the 7-Way connector you will also need a brake controller to operate your trailer's brakes. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 item # 90195.
