Does Voyager Trailer Brake Controller Use Illumination Wire on a 2008 Ford F-150 Factory Harness  

Question:

I have this trailer brake control and I have the tow package on my truck and was supplied with this wire harness # 4L3T-14A348-AA There is 5 wires on it and only 4 on the control .. The 5th wire on the ford harness has Illumination feed on it .. What do I do with it

Aftermarket brake controllers such as the Voyager # 39510 do not use the illumination circuit. You can just cap off this wire and stow it out of the way.

The brake controller uses white for ground, black for 12 volt power, blue for output to the trailer brakes, and red for input from the stop light switch.

Your Ford harness should have one of the following 2 configurations:

Pink for 12 volt power
Red for input for stop light switch
White for ground
Blue for output to trailer brakes
Brown for illumination

or

Red for 12 volt power
Light Green for input from stop light switch
White for ground
Dark Blue for output to trailer brakes
Brown for illumination
