Troubleshooting Prodigy P2 Brake Controller that Has Display that Doesn't work All The Time
Question:
Hi I have a prodigy P2 brake controller about 15 years old. When I plug in my fifth wheel all looks good trailer connected. But when pull the trailer my controller keeps dropping the connection and comes back and works. If I push manual when showing no connection it seems to work. Could my brake controller be bad Thanks

If the display is cutting in and out but the controller is still functioning then it would be internal issue that's not repairable. It sounds like there's an internal loose connection somewhere. Sometimes you can get lucky and just a hard reset by unplugging the controller and plugging it back in will fix it but otherwise 15 years is a pretty solid lifespan for a controller. It does have a limited lifetime warranty so that should still cover it. Otherwise a new P2 # 90885 would be a solid choice or upgrade to the P3 part # 90195 which has a better display and ability to save different trailer presets.
