Is It Normal For Motorhomes To Use Larger Door Latches Than Other Towable RVs?
Question:
I have a question. We have Sunseeker Class-C RV and are looking to change the door lock to keyless. Our opening is 5w X 4.5t and for the life of me I cannot find ANY that are that BIG. Even a replacement that is NOT keyless. Do you have any explanation why this opening is so big? Do you know why might sell one this big? Is there some way it can be adjusted to work with a smaller one? I appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

Motorhomes like your '18 Forest River Sunseeker Class C use the larger 5-1/4" x 4-1/2" opening like what the Bauer # BA64FR is designed for, instead of the smaller options that towable trailers tend to use.
With that said there isn't any keyless options for the larger lock that I can find, so you'll either need to stick with your current latch or if its broken/damaged you can replace it with the # BA64FR mentioned above.
I know this isn't what you were hoping to hear, but it could be possible for a local RV shop to build a plate to cover the larger opening and install the smaller latch, though it would likely be a very expensive thing due to shop hourly rates.
