Weight Distribution Hitch For a 2021 Jayco Eagle 340DROK Travel Trailer With 1,480LBS Tongue Weight

Question:

I am looking at a 2021 Jayco Eagle 340DROK with a tongue weight of 1480#. I am looking at the EQ64FR Hitch to go along with that. My concern is whether or not Jayco takes into account the weight of full propane tanks and batteries on the tongue in their tongue weight calculation. Adding another 110# for propane and 30-50# for batteries will exceed the 1600# rating of the Hitch. Is the EQ64FR adequate for this trailer?

The dry hitch weight of 1,480lbs on your 2021 Jayco Eagle 340DROK does not account for the weight of the propane in the tanks or a battery. This is the amount of tongue weight the trailer has when it leaves the factory to a dealership. The 60lbs(30lbs per tank) of propane and 50lb battery are added at the dealer giving you a hitch weight closer to 1,590lbs.

This amount of weight will make the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW2003 your best option. This system is rated for 1,500-2,000lbs of tongue weight and a total trailer weight up to 20,000lbs. It is designed to work with the underslung coupler which comes on your Jayco and has w 2-5/16" ball pre-installed. The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ64FR would end up being overloaded after you added additional camping gear and likely cause damage to the system not allowing it to transfer weight properly.
