Disc Brake Assemblies, Surge Brake & Brake Lines For 1989 Spartan Boat Trailer Tandem 3,500LB Axles

Question:

I have an old 1989 Spartan boat trailer I use to pull a 1993 BayLiner 2609 Rendezvous. It has a total of 4 hydraulic breaks, that are controlled by the trailer hitch joint. Everything related to brakes, disc, and joints etc. needs to be replaced. Can you tell me what I will need to make this Boat Trailer work again to pull the boat. The boat weighs 3500lb so I doubt I can use a regular boat trailer to pull it. Please advise me. Thanks!

First you will need to pull one of your hubs to verify the spindle size you have on your 1989 Spartan boat trailer. It likely has 3,500lb axles based on the weight of your 1993 BayLiner 2609 Rendezvous. To verify you will need a Digital Caliper # PTW80157 to measure the spindle(see image below). You should find a measurement of 1.719 for the grease seal, 1.378" for the inner bearing and 1.063" for the outer bearing. If you have anything else please let me know so I will be able to help you find the correct kit.

You will need two of the Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD67FR if your spindle matches the measurements above for a 3,500lb axle. This will include new hubs/discs, calipers, pads, mounting brackets and the necessary hardware and bearings for installation. For the Brake Lines we have a couple kits you can select from based on how long you need the main line to be. The Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit is available with a 15' # 15TA-BLKIT, 18' # 18TA-BLKIT or 20' # 20TA-BLKIT main line.

For the surge brake actuator I will need some additional information to be able to determine a unit like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM62VR will fit your trailer tongue or if you require something different. This particular actuator is a bolt on unit for a 3" wide trailer frame. The mounting bolt holes are spread 3" on center. Please let me know if your have a different style frame or mounting pattern for your surge coupler.
