5th Wheel Installation Kit for a 2013 Ram 3500HD 4x4
Question:
I have a 16k Valley hitch which I removed from a 2006 Dodge 3500 4x2 when I traded for the 2013. I am being told that there is NO install kit available to use to mount my rails in the 2013. Can you help?

We have fifth wheel installation kits available for the 2013 Ram 3500HD 4x4 as long as it does not have the factory installed fifth wheel package. The Dodge OEM fifth wheel package has 4 pucks in the bed of the truck. If your truck came with the OEM fifth wheel package, then you can use the Reese Rail Adapter for Ram OEM Fifth Wheel Package, # RP30154, to mount your Valley 16K hitch.
If you do not have the OEM fifth wheel package, then you have a number of options. Unfortunately Valley is no longer making towing products, but you could use the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16430-204. This kit will fit the 8ft and 6ft bed sizes and they come with custom frame brackets that do not require any frame drilling to install. The base rails included in this kit have the industry standard mounting slots, so it will be compatible with your Valley 16K fifth wheel hitch.
The only difference between these two kits is the finish of the base rails. The kit # C16426-204 base rails have a carbide (matte) finish and the kit # C16426-104 rails have a gloss finish. I would not recommend reusing your old base rails if they are Valley base rails. Many fifth wheel manufacturers do not test their products with products from other manufacturers, so they cannot guarantee compatibility.
