Will Thule OutWay 2 Bike Carrier Fit 2013 VW Jetta Sportwagon with Roof-Level Spoiler
Question:
Will the THULE TH45JV 2-bike rack fit my 2013 VW Jetta Sportwagon? The only problem I can see are the cables where they lie against the paint prior to the hooks attaching to the top of the rear hatch. There is an overhang over the rear glass which will cause the cables to lay against the paint as they are ratcheted tight. Do you see this as being a problem?

Vehicles such as your 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagon with a roof-level spoiler can sometimes have issues with bike carriers whose straps or cables might contact it. On some vehicles the spoiler is plastic and may not withstand the pressure of the cables, but your vehicle has been tested by Thule with the OutWay 2 bike rack # TH45JV and has been found to be a proper fit. This carrier includes locks to both secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to the vehicle and it is the easiest to install that we have seen.
Please note that with any trunk-mount carrier installed your rear wiper cannot be used.

I have a question about a Thule bike rack for my 2022 XC 60 Volvo. I bought one that goes over the hatch at BEPS here in Vicenza, Italy and there is a concern about the spoiler piece being plastic and not metal and perhaps not supporting the bike and rack and possibly damaging the car. I need help with answering the question if there would be future damage to the car with use of the bike rack. Any experience with this? Thank you
