Which Trailer Brake Controller and Tow Package Wires Connect Together on a 2011 GMC Sierra
Question:
2011 sierra. What color coming from Sierra truck hook to the voyager blue wire, which color from truck hook to white wire, which truck color wire to voyager red wire, and which truck color wire connects to black voyager wire? In other words, what color is each truck wire connecting to the blue, red, white and black voyager wire?

Expert Reply:
I will be happy to help with the brake controller installation on your 2011 GMC Sierra. As you probably know there is a tow package wire bundle under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag. You should have 4 or 5 wires in this bundle: red, dark blue, light blue, and white. There may also be an orange wire.
To connect the brake controller to these wires just follow the information below:
Truck Red to Controller Black for 12 volt power
Truck Dark Blue to Controller Blue for output to the trailer brakes
Truck Light Blue to Controller Red for input from the brake switch
Truck White to Controller White for ground
Orange is not used.
There may also be some connections that you will need to make under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to our how-to article that explains the installation including the connections that need to be made under the hood.
