Bearing Buddies for a Bearing with 1.625 Inner Diameter on a Motorcycle Trailer
Question:
Im restoring a 3 rail motorcycle trailer and the last step is repacking the bearings. Id like to get some bearing buddies or sealed type of applicator so I dont have to mess with repacking the bearings, but Im having problems finding something my size. I measure the INNER DIAMETER of the bearing at 1 5/8 inches 1.625 and am having problems finding them. Am I right in assuming that as you spec these items, youre measuring the OD of the bearing buddy, and NOT the bearing itself which would leave to question the thickness of the bearing itself? The smallest I find is 1.781, which would mean that the thickness of the BEARING would be about 5/32 by my calculations. It just seems intuitively to be the WRONG place to be measuring for fit, but then, this is all new to me. Please advise, and I hope its not change your hubs

Bearing measurements have to be as precise as possible so if you are not using dial or digital calipers you will want to get some. But that is only if you cannot read the bearing number on the outer bearing. It should be stamped into the metal of the bearing.
The diameter of the Bearing Buddies is its outer diameter where it fits into the end of the hub. It is actually slightly larger than the opening because you need a very tight fit. If your outer bearing number is # LM-11949 then you can use Bearing Buddy set # BB1781.
The other option is to get the LubriMatic Deluxe bearing packer # L70025 so you will not have to change hubs. I have included a link t oa video showing how the packer works.
