How to Pick Out Replacement Axle
Question:
Hello, I have a 5x8 Carry On Gen 2 open utility trailer w 2000 or 2200 lb axle I believe. I want to match my Jeep JL wheels /tires w 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Can I add a wheel adapter to current axle or upgrade to a 3500 axle w 5 on 5 lug pattern? Its built as an adventure trailer with a roof top tent attached to it. Dont carry much weight in it.

There aren't wheel adapters but you may be able to use a replacement axle. In order to choose the correct replacement axle for your trailer you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center; the other thing you need to know is the weight capacity of the axle you need, which should match or exceed the GVWR of your trailer.
For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle # T3584F-8974 has a 3,500 lb capacity and measures 89 inches from hub face to hub face and 74 inches from spring center to spring center.
I have added a link below with a video that explains how to measure your axle, as well as a link to our selection of axles.
