Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Not Engaging Trailer Brakes and Light Staying Green
Question:
I am using a Voyager break controller on my Nissan 2022 Frontier. When I first started using it I levelled the sensor and adjusted the power to the trailer brakes and all worked well for the next four or five trips. Then this last time, I noticed the trailer brakes where not working. I have a green light on the top of the controller, but it does not change colors when applying the brake. Instructions suggested resetting the level sensor, but when I depress the brake pedal and rotate the level knob, the light does not change from green to red or back to orange. It will only stay green. When I try to use the manual slide knob, the light never changes from green to red and no braking occurs. All of my brake lights on the trailer work fine so there is power to the 7pin plug. I have cleaned all of the connections. Is there a fuse or something that might need to be checked?

It sounds like your Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 is faulty. While the controller is proportional and will not send power to the trailer brakes when parked by using the manual slide knob it should send power to the brakes even when not moving. Since you have the green light on the controller it senses there is a trailer connected. You can choose to bench test the controller by connecting the black wire to 12 volt power, white wire to ground and using a 12 volt 1156 Incandescent Bulb # DI49VR on the blue wire. You will need to ground the negative terminal on the bulb. When you activate the manual switch you should see the bulb light up, if not you know the controller is faulty.
