I have a solution for you but there isn't a way to install the Yakima ladder racks by attaching to the stake pockets of the truck. You'd have to go with a rack like an Adarac ladder rack for your 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed like part # A45DJ as this installs through the top of the stake pockets and since it has uprights that do not angle in they would not interfere with the cover rolling up. Or if you prefer a sliding ladder rack with adjustable heights like the Overhaul you'd want the Truxedo Elevate part # TX46NV which also is confirmed to fit your truck and your BakFlip X4s # BAK72VR.
