Can The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch Be Locked Out When Being Used In A Long Bed Truck
Question:
I bought the auto slider when I had my 6’4” bed on my ram, now I have an 8’ bed and don’t really need the slider, can you lock it into place to where it doesn’t move?

The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034 can not be locked out to only pivot at the head of the hitch so you would still have it sliding back while making turns. That being said, this hitch is a top tier option when it comes to fifth wheel hitches so I personally would just keep using it.
If you would rather switch to a fixed hitch then I recommend selling your Demco and switching to the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3255. It has the same 18k capacity as your Demco and is also a top tier quality fifth wheel hitch. The head of this hitch can also be removed from the base to make installing and removing the hitch from your truck bed fast and easy enough that you can do it alone.
If you'd like something different then let me know what your needs are and I can try to find the best option for you.
