3 Bike Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2004 Saturn Ion That is User Friendly and Secure
Question:
What is the best bike rack 2 or 3 bikes for my 2004 Saturn Ion 4 door auto? I do not have a hitch... It needs to be relatively easy to use. I am a 55 year old female in okay shape. Security is definately a concern as well. Please advise. Thank you.

The Thule OutWay 3 Bike Carrier # TH56BV is a great bike rack and is confirmed as a fit for your 2004 Saturn Ion. It can carry up to 3 bikes, is easy to install, and has several integrated security features.
Thule uses the FitDial system to ensure a correct fit for the support arms to vehicle specific trunk profiles. According to the Thule Fit Guide the FitDial System setting for your 2004 Saturn Ion 4 door is a 7. With this setting the support arms of the bike rack will fit the contour of your trunk.
Additionally, the Sure-Tite Ratcheting cables are very sturdy, and install on only 2 points instead of 6 on your trunk. The combination of the FitDial system and the Sure-Tite ratcheting cables simplifies the attachment and installation process. The Sure-Tite cables are high strength cable, and are not a nylon style that can be simply sliced through or cut to steal the bike rack off your vehicle.
There is also an integrated locking cable that will allow you to secure your bikes to the carrier. For added security you may be interested in the Thule Passive Security Strap # TH533. This strap will loop around your carrier and then be closed in the truck of your Ion. The strap has dual steel cables integrated into the strap that prevent it from be cut and stolen off your vehicle.
Please keep in mind that if you plan on carrying any alternative bike frames such as step through, children's or women's bikes, I recommend using the Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT. This adapter will provide a horizontal top tube that will allow you to mount the bikes easily and safely, and allowing for increased ground clearance.
