Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Being Locked Up With 7-Way Disconnected From Tow Vehicle
Question:
My brakes on my 2010 keystone passport travel trailer keep locking up even when Im not plugged in. I cut the wire for trailer brakes on the axle and it released it. The main 7 way plug got damaged so I rewired it and after that is when my trailer brakes locked up. But I connected them the right way.

It sounds like you have an issue with your Breakaway Kit # 20099. This is where the power is coming from to lock your trailer brakes when it is not connected to your vehicle 7-way. You will want to check to ensure the disconnect is fully seated and the wiring for it is not damaged. We do have a Replacement Switch # FA80-00-2040 if your switch is allowing power to flow through the switch with the plug in place.
