How To Remove Battery From 18 Volt Solera Rechargeable Awing Arms

Question:

The battery in my Solera 18 V battery-powered awning has died and I cannot figure out how to remove the old battery. It looks like the awning arm was built around the battery and the battery mount and arm would be damaged if I try to remove it. Can you direct me to instructions on how to remove and replace the battery?

I reached out to Lippert for help with their Solera 18V Electric RV Awning Conversion Kit # LC434730. While they do not have a video or instructions which address removing or installing the new Battery # LC387959 I was instructed the retainers holding in the battery clip in and out of the outer arm. If you are in a colder climate it is likely that the plastic clips are stiffer and may not want to easily be removed. A set of Picks # PT76VR will help you to get behind the clips and push them past the notch in the arm assemblies.
