Troubleshooting Ram Jack Not Extending or Retracting With Power or By Hand

Question:

I bought a Forest River Salem 27-REIS TT used from a dealer. The RAM 3500 series electric tongue jack will not go down and simply spins clockwise. As it spins around, theres a metallic click as if maybe a gears slipping or something. The hand crank wont lower the jack stand either. The dealer told me to tap the bottom of the foot and to also try applying pressure to the foot, but this didnt work either. Any ideas what the problem might be and how I might be able to fix it?

It sounds like your 3,500 lb Electric Jack w/ Footplate # EJ-3520-BBX has a bad internal screw. Since you've tried to operate it both electronically with the buttons as well as mechanically with the manual override you've been able to rule everything else out (good job!).

Unfortunately it doesn't look like this is a replaceable part so you'll have to replace the jack entirely and for that I recommend either part # EJ-3520-BBX for an exact replacement or the Ultra-Fab Phoenix # UF38-944040 as an upgrade (it operates faster).

If your Forest River Salem is new to you from the dealer then I would try reaching back out to them to see if they would be willing to help you out with a replacement.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out!
