Is Safety Bolt Needed When Using Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125
Question:
Hello, Im wondering how easy/quickly this is to lower and raise. You show in the video a safety bolt having to be removed and then a spring loaded pin pulled up for it to be released. Would it be ok to not have the safety bolt in so i can simply pull up on the swing loaded pin? Im looking to mount a spare tire on my SUV permanently that I can easily move away to open the rear hatch. This is my reasoning. Also, if this is possible then would it result in lots of wobble because the safety bolt is not in there holding it tight?

We have to recommend that you use the safety bolt of the Roadmaster Spare Carrier part # RM-195125 at all times when travelling. Maybe it wouldn't come undone when on the road but it's an added layer of security that would prevent that and it will prevent movement. If you had a ratchet and socket the bolt will come out and install really quickly.
