Is a Fixed or Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed for a 2022 Ford F-350 Using Lippert Turning Point
Question:
Hi, My vehicle is a 2022 Ford F350 4wd, 6 3/4 bed, 20 in wheels, with fifth wheel prep puck system. We are purchasing a Forest River Rockwood 2445ws with an LCI turning point pin box. Can you recommend a compatable hitch? I have never had a fifth wheel and have no idea if I need a slider hitch because of the short box. From what I understand the turning point pin box moves the pivot point back so I shouldnt get a sliding hitch? Any help is appreciated.

If the trailer has a rotating pin box such as the Reese Revolution/Sidewinder or the Lippert Turning Point then a sliding fifth wheel hitch is not needed and you can instead go with a much lighter, fixed fifth wheel hitch. For this, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch part # BWRVK3305 which is one of the best options in the game with thick dual locking jaws for better ride quality, a cam-action handle for easy uncoupling on uneven terrain, and a removable head to save your back when getting the hitch in and out. The best part of all is that the hitch is completely American made and has a lifetime warranty which no other company in the industry stands behind better than B&W.
Please note, you'll need to use the universal wedge that comes with the pin box which prevents the king pin from rotating inside the trailer hitch jaws.
