Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator For Disc Brakes to Replace Surge Brake Actuator
Question:
I have a 2005 nitro single axle trailer with disc brakes original actuator is tde lp7000 inside of frame. Do you have a direct replacement for this one? would a electric over hydraulic be better for this application? If I replace the surge actuator it will be the 3rd one. Thanks.

There is not a direct replacement for the LP7000 actuator for disc brakes, and to answer your question, electric over hydraulic braking is better in really every single way. While hydraulic brakes give better stopping power than electric brakes, electric brakes are more responsive, so what an EOH actuator does is combine the two, giving you the best possible stopping power. So I always recommend going electric over hydraulic if possible, and for disc brakes you can use the following:
- Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes # CAR-HBA16-2
The # CAR-HBA16-2 comes with the actuator, brake lines, and breakaway kit, so everything you need to make the conversion.
