Using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test wire functionality on your 2007 GMC Envoy is the best way to determine the correct connections however, the typical wire matches for Chevy/GMC vehicles with a tow package are:
12V function:
GMC - Red / Black
Brake Controller - Black
Stoplight (brake pedal):
GMC - Light Blue
Brake Controller - Red
Ground:
GMC - White
Brake Controller - White
Trailer Brakes:
GMC - Dark Blue
Brake Controller - Blue
The brake controller adapter only uses 4 wires, Red, Black, White and Blue. If you have an Orange wire in the tow package bundle from your tow package, it is not used by the controller.
I have a few different attachments but the most important one to check out is the FAQ article that covers the installation of a brake controller on a 2007 - 2011 GM full size truck / SUV. This article covers issues that pertain to your vehicle and how to work around them.
You may have some under hood connections that will need to be made to make all the components functional but the FAQ that I attached addresses those concerns.
