Comparing the B&W and Curt Underbed Systems for a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500
Question:
When installing a fifth wheel hitch in a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 standard bed without an OEM puck system are there any advantages or disadvantages when comparing the Curt underbed system vs the BandW Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch?

I would be happy to compare the B&W Turnoverball System item # BWGNRK1020-5W to the Curt Underbed System item # C60642. Both of these systems are confirmed to fit the 6-3/4' and 8' bed lengths of the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500.
The main advantage of the B&W over the Curt is that B&W has 5th wheel hitches made specifically for their turnover ball system. These hitches are some of the best 5th wheel hitches on the market. If you have a short bed and need a slider item # BWRVK3400-5W or the standard Companion item # BWRVK3500 these hitches are ready to drop right into the B&W gooseneck receiver. They will give you a 20,000 lbs towing capacity and the most secure, comfortable, and quietest towing experience.
The underbed systems both have identical installation methods and will give you a clean empty bed when you are not towing a 5th wheel trailer. The sliding pin release is located inside your wheel fender and will securely lock your hitch ball or accessory in place. They have slightly different capacities but both will get you well above your Sierra 2500's limits.
If you already have a 5th wheel hitch or want to use one with industry standard rails both underbed systems have adapters. For the B&W you will want the 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitches item # DM6140.
I strongly recommend the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # BWGNRK1020-5W over the Curt. This system is comparable in price and installation initially but the ease and availability of installing one of the best hitches in the towing business makes this the clear winner.
I have linked some pictures and installation video's below so you can see some of the products mentioned in action.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient. You will not be able to use a rotating pin box with a Turnover Ball System.
