How to Install Projected Male Slip Fitting

Question:

Ive had to replace the waste valve on my gray tank. This looks like a perfect fit for the opening in my gray tank, but which side the longer or the shorter, should go into the tank opening? The tank has a large hose clamp that helps secure this piece and Im not certain the shorter flange would be caught by the hose clamp. Also, what sealant should be used?

Helpful Expert Reply:

To install the Projected Male Slip Fitting # 372216-A-MS-A to your gray tank you're going to clean the surface area and then apply some cement like the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement # A05-0303 to the shorter side of the fitting. Give it 30 minutes to cure and then you can attach your hose and clamp to the longer end that is sticking out!
