Troubleshooting Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller O.L. Error Code With Trailer Disconnected
Question:
Have recently purchased a triflex worked great the past several times used but now always showing O.L. code checked connections as this is attached via harness. There is no corrosion in any of the connections. Is the controller the problem

Expert Reply:
It is strange to see the O.L. on the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV when there is not a trailer connected. I recommend starting by removing the connector on the back of the controller and checking the blue wire/trailer brake wire for any continuity to ground with a MultiMeter # PT89ZR. You should not see any continuity to ground when the brake controller is disconnected. If you do see continuity you can disconnect the 7-Way # HM40975 to determine if there is an issue with the connector. Otherwise you will need to trace the wiring to find the short to ground or have it inspected by your dealer. I have also linked the instructions for the controller below that will allow you to bench test the controller and verify if it has malfunctioned.
