Cant get power to my Tekonsha p3 90195 On My 2001 Mitsubishi

Question:

Truck sat for 6weeks . Its a 24v. Replaced both batteries and starter motor. But cant power ip control unit. Have traced the black wire back to batteries and white wire and are all good. I have 2 12v batteries hooked up in series, is it important to connect the power wireblack to the right battery and so forth with the ground white. Any possible causes would be great.

The most likely culprit is a short (crimped or exposed section) on the power wire, which runs from the brake controller to your positive battery terminal. Follow the black 12V power wire from the brake controller into the engine compartment, and make sure that you cover any exposed areas that might be touching metal and causing a false ground. If you installed the ground wire to the frame of the vehicle, move it to the negative battery terminal. You can use the Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to help find what is wrong.

You may have also hooked it up wrong and fried the controller. You need to verify that only 12V is going to the controller. You will need to have it wired to a 20/30 amp circuit breaker and not directly to the battery.
