Your truck, trailer and weight distribution system all appear to be compatible with each other, If you are still experiencing sway after installing the Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution System, # BXW1000, there are a few things we can look at. The first thing that I would look at is the tongue weight of the trailer. The tongue weight of the trailer, when it is loaded and ready to tow, should be 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. If the tongue weight is too light or too heavy, you can experience trailer sway because there is too much cargo loaded in one part of the trailer.

This weight distribution system has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. The tongue weight will include the loaded tongue weight of the trailer plus the weight of any cargo loaded in the truck bed behind the rear axle. If the tongue weight of your trailer and the weight of your cargo exceeds 1,000 lbs, you may experience trailer sway.

The next thing to look at is the setup of the weight distribution system itself. The Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution System, # BXW1000, does not use the typical friction style sway control, so proper setup is crucial for the Blue Ox sway control to be effective. If you are comfortable checking the system yourself, I have attached the installation instructions for you to look over. I recommend going over them step by step and test drive after each adjustment to see what works. If the hitch ball is not setup properly or one spring bar has more tension than the other, you can experience a number of issues. Otherwise, I recommend taking the trailer back to the trailer dealer or to a closer dealer and have them inspect the setup.
