Can Powered A-Frame Jack be Powered From Breakaway Battery

Question:

Hi, My trailer tongue jack is hard for me to crank as I age - time for an electric tongue jack. Can I power the jack from the breakaway battery already mounted for my electric over hydraulic brakes? Any recommended brand of jack?

The breakaway battery of a trailer wouldn't have enough amperage to power the jack up and down and also it would drain it to point it wouldn't work as a breakaway kit. So you could power the jack from the 12 volt power circuit of the trailer wiring which normally runs to the breakaway battery or you could install a separate battery that is rated higher and would last longer.

The Bulldog powered a-frame jack part # BD500187 would be a really solid choice for a powered jack. It has more than enough weight capacity, is reliable, comes with a light, is priced better than most options, and comes with a great warranty.
