Tongue Weight Scale Recommendation for Checking Off-Road Trailer Tongue Weight

Question:

I purchased an off-road trailer, bare bones, and am in the process of building it out with PV panels, batteries, electronics, water storage, interior storage etc. It is a long, slow project that changes the weight distribution as each phase gets completed. I need a device to help me make informed decisions about placement and load as the design progresses and to keep road manners in check while I use it. The trailer has a GAWR of 3500 lbs and a recommended tongue weight of 500 lb. Twin jacks in front, single axle, Lock and Roll hitch. What do you recommend for my stated purpose? I was going to purchase a hydraulic scale and measure the weight at each wheel and the tongue to provide guidance. The sensitivity of this approach seems questionable.

Thank you for reaching out!

For your application I highly recommend going with the etrailer Tongue Weight Scale for Campers and Utility Trailers - 2,000-lb Capacity # e99044.

This is small so it's portable and it uses a standard scale style so you can be confident you're getting the right number every time. Since this sits fairly low at 4-1/2" tall you'll likely need to use some wood blocks to safely place your trailer tongue on the scale.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out.
